Pandillas/Gangs of El Salvador

San Salvador, El Salvador, Tuesday, May 15, 2007. A gang member from 13 has his tattoos removed at the Clinica Comunitaria Padre Octavio Ortiza founded by Father Antonio Rodriguez. Tattoo removal is a very painful and time-consuming process, sometimes taking years and leaving ugly scars. In El Salvador young men and women cannot find a job or go to school if they have tattoos, it is common practice to ask applicants to take their clothes off at an interview in order to check for tattoos. The clinic offers this very expensive service to the community no questions asked.
